About the role

The General Practitioner with Advanced Skills Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology plays a key role within Clinical Skills Development Services (CSDS), supporting the Queensland Maternity Education (QME) program to improve outcomes for women and babies across Queensland. This position provides contemporary obstetric expertise and clinical leadership to support the design, delivery and evaluation of interprofessional maternity education programs, with a particular focus on building capability in rural and regional health services.

Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals across the state, you will translate extensive clinical experience into innovative face-to-face, blended and online learning experiences. The role includes developing educational resources, teaching the management of obstetric emergencies, contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives, and providing expert obstetric advice to support statewide maternity education programs.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Design, implement and evaluate interprofessional maternity education programs and resources that strengthen clinical capability across Queensland health services.
  • Provide expert obstetric guidance and education to course participants, including the management of maternity emergencies and interdisciplinary teamwork in complex clinical scenarios.
  • Contribute to research, quality improvement, audit and clinical governance activities that enhance maternity education and patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, healthcare services and external stakeholders to support statewide maternity education initiatives.
  • Maintain specialist professional knowledge, credentials and continuing professional development while providing clinical leadership and expert advice within the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Benefits when working for us

  • Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
  • Flexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increases
  • Benefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packaging
