About the role

TL;DR: Be our first operations hire on the ground in New York. You'll build out Conduct's US home, from the office and the culture to the hiring and the systems behind them, while working on company-wide ops as part of a global team. It's the closest seat you can get to building a generational company, at the moment it goes global.

WHY CONDUCT

We believe the world's largest companies should move at the speed of their ideas, not the speed of the decade-old systems they run on. Today they don't.

Every process change, every new product line runs into software systems layered with decades of custom code and complexity no human mind can fully comprehend. New requirements take months to ship, system migrations cost $100M+ and years of pain.

We're building the AI operating system that absorbs this complexity and gives enterprises back their speed and ambition. Major enterprises already trust us with their most critical systems, we've closed game-changing SI partnerships, just raised a $60M Series A, and demand is outpacing what we can service.

We're a small, talent-dense team doing our life's work out of London and NYC. Extreme ownership, high velocity, low-ego collaboration. What you build here shapes the company and how the world's largest companies operate. We are convinced diverse teams build better products, so we especially encourage underrepresented groups in tech to reach out.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

You'll be the first New York-based ops hire, with a broad mandate: make sure Conduct NYC runs smoothly, both as an office in its own right and as part of one Conduct. It's a high-ownership generalist role spanning hiring, office management, finance, legal, events, and anything else you identify as needing doing.

Your first focus is completing the 0 to 1 of NYC ops. This isn't a lift-and-shift from London: you'll work out the jobs to be done in the US and deliver them, which may mean changing how we do things globally. We'll scale in NYC far faster than we did in London, with 100+ people, a major office move, and a full events programme planned for 2027. So, as what you build in NYC matures, you'll hand it over to new hires and trusted suppliers, leaving you more time to focus on global operations.

In practice:

  • Build the operational backbone of our US business, partnering with legal, finance, ops, and the Founders to put in place the systems, suppliers, and processes that let us scale fast.
  • Run Conduct's New York office day to day, and help find, design and move into our next one.
  • Support US hiring from first interview to first day: help run interviews and onsites, give every candidate a great experience in our office, and help new hires land well after onboarding in London.
  • Lead culture in New York, from socials to local rituals and traditions, making sure the office feels closely aligned with London.
  • Run events that put Conduct on the map, from our own meetups to partner events with the best companies in AI and tech.
  • Contribute to global ops as part of our wider ops team and pick up projects that interest you beyond the US once you are ramped up.
  • Spot what's slowing the team down and build the fix.

WHO WE HIRE

You're sharp, organised, and ruthlessly focused on getting things done. You're hands-on from the smallest task to the largest, you love being scrappy in a fast-changing environment without clear role boundaries, and you care deeply about the people around you.

In practice that tends to look like:

  • You have 1 to 3 years in a hands-on generalist role at a fast-growing, early-stage company, and you know what a high bar looks like.
  • You've worked across several areas (hiring, finance, legal, facilities, events, etc) and owned business-critical processes.
  • You know what you can decide alone and what needs escalation.
  • You hold an extremely high bar for operational excellence and an eye for detail, without being attached to the way you've done things before.
  • You're a culture carrier with a strong instinct for people and relationships, and you care about employee experience.
  • You're comfortable around founders, customers, and senior leaders.
  • You're highly responsible with the details that matter, from budgets to contracts.
  • You're based in New York (or ready to be) and excited to be in the office every day.
