About the role

PDT Partners – a quantitative investment manager – is looking for an analytical, curious, and tenacious Finance Associate to join our Finance, Accounting, and Treasury (“FACT”) team. Unlike traditional finance roles, this position offers the opportunity to modernize our operations across treasury, finance, tax, and reporting. This role focuses on deeply understanding the "why" behind our processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing efficiency gains, and harnessing data to drive better decision-making across the firm.

As a Finance Associate, you will cross train in various FACT responsibilities to develop expertise in multiple domains. You will collaborate closely with operational and technical teams across the company, contribute to day-to-day operations, and brainstorm with other groups within PDT on implementing trading strategies. In this role, you'll be a core member of the FACT team—integral to running our business and building the infrastructure that enables our growth.

This is a hybrid position and will require the person to work from our New York City office at minimum 3 days a week.

Why join us?

PDT Partners has a 30+ year track record and a reputation for excellence. Our goal is to be the best quantitative investment manager in the world—measured by the quality of our products, not their size. PDT’s very high employee-retention rate speaks for itself. Our people are intellectually extraordinary and our community is close-knit, down-to-earth, and diverse.

Responsibilities

  • Develop broad expertise by rotating across treasury, finance, fund reporting, and tax compliance
  • Support day-to-day FACT operations, e.g. cash management, margin analysis, tax estimates, compliance reporting, and counterparty management
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and implement solutions by collaborating with internal operations development teams and leveraging data systems and AI tools
  • Liaise with external service providers, such as prime brokers and accounting firms
  • Lead or contribute to special projects and ad-hoc analyses both within the FACT team and across the firm

Below is a list of skills and experiences we think are relevant. Even if you don’t think you’re a perfect match, we still encourage you to apply because we are committed to developing our people.

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in Finance, Treasury, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting and Tax, or related fields
  • Basic programming skills or experience with AI-assisted tools to automate and streamline workflows
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Intellectual curiosity: eager to learn about our business and understand the "why" behind processes
  • Diligence: a demonstrated ability to be meticulous and thorough in delivering high-quality work
  • Tenacity: enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and determined to get the job done
  • Self-motivation: driven to deliver excellent work and identify improvement opportunities
  • Clear communication: ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong teamwork: collaborate and work effectively across teams

The salary range for this role is between $120,000 and $150,000. This range is not inclusive of any potential bonus amounts. Factors that may impact the agreed upon salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other external factors.
