Job Mission

At ASM, our Manufacturing Engineering team plays a key role in transforming innovative semiconductor equipment designs into scalable, high-quality manufacturing solutions. As an Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering, you will drive product industrialization, manufacturing readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives across the product lifecycle. Working closely with global cross-functional teams, you will help optimize cost, quality, and operational efficiency while enabling successful product transfers into high-volume manufacturing.

What you will be working on

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Design Engineering, Special Products, and Refurbishment teams during product development to influence Design for Manufacturing (DFM) decisions and achieve cost targets.
  • Drive manufacturing readiness activities throughout the Product Life Cycle (PLC), from concept and development phases through production release.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on cost reduction, cycle time improvement, quality enhancement, material flow optimization, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Materials, NPI, and Operations teams to ensure successful product industrialization and production ramp-up.
  • Develop, validate, and continuously improve test and inspection documentation, including test plans, procedures, and inspection checklists for complex modules and systems.
  • Identify and implement tooling, automation, and test equipment solutions that improve manufacturing productivity, quality, and consistency.
  • Lead Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and support Product Transfer Readiness Reviews (PTRRs) to ensure products are successfully transitioned into high-volume manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Software, and Supply Chain teams to develop deep product and system-level expertise.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Provide technical support, knowledge transfer, and training to manufacturing teams, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, production engineering, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience within the semiconductor equipment, capital equipment, or advanced technology manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, system integration, assembly, testing, and inspection of complex electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, engineering change processes, and configuration management.
  • Experience working with Product Life Cycle (PLC) processes, engineering change workflows, and change control requirements.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence methodologies, including FMEA, 8D, PDCA, DMAIC, Six Sigma, SPC, GR&R, and process capability analysis.

What sets you apart

  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and product transfers into high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process equipment such as ALD, CVD, Epitaxy, or other wafer processing technologies.
  • Experience with modular assembly strategies, feeder-line manufacturing, automation solutions, data analytics, and digital manufacturing initiatives.
  • Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in cost, quality, productivity, and cycle time.
  • Experience managing manufacturing tooling, test equipment development, and process optimization projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, drive change, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across a global organization.
