About the role

About the team

Avride is a leading developer in the autonomous vehicle and delivery robot industry. Our dynamic team, composed of a few hundred engineers develops and operates autonomous cars and delivery robots across the globe, shaping the future of mobility and logistics.

At Avride, we are committed to making the roads safer and more accessible for everyone. At the core of our philosophy is the belief in the transformative power of technology. Every product we develop, every test we conduct, and every service we launch is anchored in our vision of creating a safer and more sustainable world with help of cutting-edge technologies and breakthrough solutions.

About the role

Our Autonomy Platform Engineering Hardware team designs the electronics on these vehicles, including compute, power, networking and sensor interface boards. We're looking for a hands-on technician in Austin to keep our fleet's electronics running and to help build the hardware we test next.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose and test electronic units on robotaxis and delivery robots, following written test procedures and using electrical test equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble electronic units
  • Remove and install units on vehicles and robots
  • Route and install wiring on vehicles and robots
  • Re-terminate and re-crimp cable assemblies and harnesses
  • Repair PCB assemblies by reworking and replacing components, including fine-pitch work under a microscope, then run the follow-up tests in the procedure
  • Assemble prototype hardware
  • Build and modify test benches and fixtures
  • Work through assigned task lists and plans, and write clear reports on what you found, what you did and the test results
  • Keep repair and inventory records up to date in our tracking systems

What you'll need

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong soldering skills, including fine-pitch and microscope work (SMD components, rework of small packages)
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment: multimeter, bench power supply, oscilloscope, and similar tools
  • Experience with crimping, connector termination and cable assembly
  • Comfortable with everyday computer tools: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), email, online schematic/PCB viewers, and databases or ticketing systems
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures exactly and to document your work
  • Very precise, disciplined and detail-oriented: you take pride in work that is done right and recorded properly
  • Able to work on your own and finish tasks on schedule

Nice to have

  • IPC certification: J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721 (rework/repair) or IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable and harness)
  • Experience with automotive, robotics or other vehicle electronics
  • Familiarity with ESD-safe work practices
  • EV / high-voltage safety awareness
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in electronics, or equivalent hands-on experience

Work Environment

  • On-site in Austin, split between the electronics lab and the vehicle/robot fleet area
  • Flexible full-time schedule, coordinated with the team
