Must have a strong grasp of public policy as well as political and media dynamics, be able to think creatively, and engage both tactically and strategically.
  • Content Development: Draft policy memos, strategy documents, and communications materials such as op-eds, communications plans, and statements for media on a range of issues. Must be able to write cleanly, and analyze and distill complex topics.
  • Substantive Expertise: Closely follow public policy developments, political news, and industry trends. Must have demonstrated experience of mastering new issue areas quickly.
  • Management: Oversee the work of managers, associates, fellows, and interns, provide professional development and mentorship, and assist with operational processes.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven years' experience in communications or public policy roles in the corporate, political, or nonprofit sectors; candidates with experience working at the intersection of communications and policy preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and interface with press; on-the-record experience serving as a spokesperson for a company, brand, or candidate preferred;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with examples of writing products that have been published or shared for external consumption;
  • Proven ability to manage a team effectively, with experience leading staff across multiple priorities and projects at the same time.

Evergreen offers a base salary of $110,000-$145,000 for Directors, plus our industry-leading 401(k) matching program, health plan, and PTO policy. Mentorship and professional development will be priorities.
