Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.

About the Role

The Director of Brand Communications is a critical leadership role on the communications team that will help continue to drive strong momentum and expand brand and product awareness by reaching new audiences in the Americas. The ideal candidate will lead and execute our consumer communications strategy in collaboration with internal and external agency partners.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our NYC, NY office — three days per week.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a measurable consumer strategy across national and local markets and execute campaigns that consistently position Strava as the subscription at the center of connected fitness.
  • Collaborate with marketing and content teams to identify high-value spokespeople and influencers who can be utilized across a variety of channels, including earned media, social media, events, and partnerships.
  • Identify important company milestones, shaping storytelling and news moments around partnerships, campaigns, cultural moments, seasonal activity
  • Have a strong command of data and how it can be used to uncover trends and build newsworthy PR moments that deliver on strategy.
  • Build and support a team culture that encourages autonomy and discipline when supporting the corporate mission.
  • Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities, and prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material as needed
  • Manage PR agency resources across North and South America in the U.S.
  • Prepare and media train company spokespeople for interviews and speaking engagements.
  • Have a journalistic curiosity and a desire to always dig deeper for a story.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • At least 10+ years of communications experience; combination of agency and in-house experience strongly desired.
  • Exceptional media relations skills, with a proven track record of strategically and proactively securing placements and a network of contacts that you have strong relationships with.
  • Superior verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Outstanding project management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick and sound decisions under tight timelines in important situations.
  • An ability to independently structure and manage priorities for yourself and your team members.
