About the role

Start Your Career in Tech with Datacom!

Finished school and wondering what’s next?

You don’t need years of experience or a long list of qualifications to start building a great career.

Join Datacom as a Customer Service Representative and get paid while you learn, gain real workplace experience and work towards your Certificate III in IT.

This could be your first step into a career you haven’t even discovered yet.

Your first step

You’ll start in our customer contact centre, where you’ll learn how to support customers, solve problems and work as part of a professional team.

Along the way, you’ll build skills that can set you up for your future, including:

  • Communicating confidently with customers
  • Solving problems and thinking on your feet
  • Building your technology and digital skills
  • Working with different people and teams
  • Managing priorities and taking ownership
  • Building confidence in a professional workplace

You’ll also work towards obtaining a Government Security Clearance, giving you the opportunity to support some of Datacom’s valued clients across Australia.

Where could it take you?

This is where it gets exciting.

Your first role at Datacom doesn’t have to be your forever role.

While gaining hands-on experience and completing your Certificate III in IT, you’ll get exposure to a large technology business and start discovering what you’re good at and where you might want your career to go.

Over time, you could explore opportunities and career pathways across areas such as:

People Leadership | Quality | Knowledge Management | Workforce Management | Customer Experience | Technology

You’ll also have access to learning and development opportunities designed to help you continue building your skills.

You don’t need to have your whole career figured out. This is a place to start exploring it.

Who are we looking for?

We’re not expecting you to arrive knowing everything.

We’re looking for people with the attitude and potential to learn.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Are curious and enjoy learning new things
  • Like helping people and solving problems
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Are patient and understanding
  • Enjoy being part of a team
  • Are reliable and punctual
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Can type around 20 words per minute
  • Are an Australian Citizen and able to obtain the required security clearance

Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. We can help you build the skills from there.

What does the roster look like?

The role operates Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 7:30pm on a rotating roster.

You’ll work an average of 37.5 hours across five days, and rosters are provided two weeks in advance, so you know when you’re working.

Why Datacom?

Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest technology services companies, but what makes us different is our people.

For someone starting their career, Datacom gives you the opportunity to learn, gain experience, meet people working across different areas of technology and start figuring out the career that’s right for you.

So, if you’re finishing school, starting out in the workforce or simply looking for an opportunity to get your foot in the door of the tech industry, we’d love to hear from you.
