About the role

Are you a credit control or accounts receivable professional who enjoys investigating discrepancies, improving processes and getting results?

At Smart Energy, we’re helping Australians unlock their home’s potential through solar, batteries, hot water heat pumps, EV chargers and more.

We’re looking for a Credit & Accounts Receivable Officer to take ownership of rebate recovery, turn complex data into clear insights and help strengthen the processes supporting our home electrification business.

If you enjoy combining hands-on collections with analysis and problem-solving, this is an opportunity to make a measurable difference.

The Opportunity 🚀

Reporting to the Collections Manager, you’ll play a key role in recovering outstanding rebate balances and keeping claims moving.

You’ll investigate stalled claims, work with installers and external partners to resolve issues, and bring together data from multiple systems to give the business a clear picture of rebate performance.

You’ll also help shape how we work - identifying bottlenecks, strengthening controls and introducing practical improvements that make rebate recovery faster, more accurate and easier to manage.

🧾 What You’ll Be Doing

Take ownership of rebate recovery 💰

  • Proactively manage outstanding rebate receivables, prioritising follow-up based on ageing, value, risk and recoverability.
  • Conduct targeted phone and written follow-ups to resolve overdue items and agree realistic recovery timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with installers, Formbay and internal teams to resolve queries and unblock stalled claims.
  • Track and reconcile rebate claims, adjustments and disputed items through to resolution.
  • Turn data into action 📊
  • Consolidate and reconcile information from Xero, Airtable, Formbay and other platforms to maintain a reliable view of the rebate ledger.
  • Analyse ageing, recovery timelines, overdue balances and dispute trends to identify emerging risks.
  • Investigate claim discrepancies, data mismatches and workflow gaps affecting recovery.
  • Produce clear reports, dashboards and commentary that help management understand performance and take action.
  • Improve the way we work 💡
  • Identify bottlenecks and recurring issues across the rebate lifecycle, recommending practical solutions.
  • Work with Rebate Operations, Finance and Sales to improve workflows, documentation and controls.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, better system integration and stronger data validation.
  • Help develop scalable reporting that improves visibility as the business grows.
  • Maintain strong standards
  • Keep accurate, complete and audit-ready records of collection activity, claim updates and stakeholder communications.
  • Follow internal credit and rebate policies, documentation standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Escalate aged, stalled or non-compliant claims and coordinate action to resolve the underlying issues.

You Must Have

  • 2 -4 years’ experience in accounts receivable, credit control, collections, rebate recovery or financial operations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret ageing reports, identify trends and investigate discrepancies.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including experience building reports, analysing datasets and presenting useful insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail across reconciliations, claims, adjustments and ledger movements.
  • Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to have productive conversations about outstanding balances.
  • A practical approach to improving processes, solving problems and following issues through to completion.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly regarded:
  • Experience with Xero, Salesforce, Airtable, Formbay or similar finance, CRM and claims management platforms.
  • Exposure to renewable energy rebates, government incentive schemes or compliance-based claims.
  • Experience improving reporting, workflows, system controls or automation.

What Will Help You Succeed

You’re proactive, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership. When a claim stalls or the numbers don’t reconcile, you investigate, ask questions and keep working towards a resolution.

You balance confident follow-up with strong stakeholder relationships, communicate clearly and bring practical ideas to the team. You enjoy understanding why an issue happened and helping prevent it from happening again.
