About the role

Controller

Flowcode | Finance | Reports to the CFO

Location: NYC | Work arrangement: Hybrid (4-days/week in-office)

Flowcode builds the infrastructure that turns real world touchpoints into measurable, actionable first party IDs, enabling F500 brands to personalize consumer experiences at scale.

About the role

As Flowcode's Controller, you will own daily accounting and shape how the function operates. Working directly with the CFO, you will turn accounting expertise into reliable financial information and a more efficient way of running finance.

You will work in a lean finance team, preparing the work, resolving accounting questions, and leading relationships with auditors and external advisers. You will also decide how our processes and systems should evolve. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through on the details, and enjoys having the authority to make improvements.

Ai and automation will be central to your approach. Alongside full accounting ownership, there is room to contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and operating decisions. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build a top-tier accounting function and grow their impact across finance.

If you join you will

  • Own daily accounting, the close, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll accounting, and accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Build scalable accounting policies, controls, documentation, and recurring processes.
  • Lead technical accounting across revenue recognition, deferred revenue, equity compensation, multi-entity reporting, and capitalization.
  • Improve finance systems and integrations to reduce manual work and support growth.
  • Apply AI to reconciliations, reporting, collections, and analysis, with measurable improvements and appropriate review.
  • Own billing and collections, resolve customer issues, and maintain visibility into cash and upcoming payments.
  • Manage audits and coordinate tax and compliance work with external advisers.
  • Partner with the CFO on forecasting, budgets, monthly reporting, and board and investor materials.
  • Work with Legal, Sales, and Operations on contract terms, billing arrangements, and approvals

What success looks like in six months

  • A dependable close and reporting process, with reconciled accounts, documented policies, and clear ownership of recurring work.
  • More accurate and timely billing, a consistent collections cadence, and clear visibility into receivables and cash.
  • AI and automation embedded in recurring workflows, with measurable improvements in manual effort, accuracy, or speed.
  • A useful monthly view of actuals versus budget and an active partnership with the CFO on forecasting and business performance.

What we are looking for

  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 or equivalent audit experience
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge and practical experience with SaaS or subscription revenue accounting. You can make sound judgments, explain your reasoning, and recognize when specialist advice is needed.
  • Experience owning a close and working directly with auditors. You are ready to take responsibility for the full accounting function.
  • Experience applying AI and automation to real work. You can walk us through a workflow you improved, how you checked the output, and what changed as a result.
  • Strong spreadsheet and financial systems skills, attention to detail, and the ability to turn incomplete information into a clear next step.
  • Clear communication and a strong sense of ownership. You follow issues through to resolution and work well with colleagues outside Finance.

Additional strengths

  • CPA and/or public accounting experience.
  • Experience improving the full process from signed contract to cash collection, or modernizing accounting and billing systems.
  • Interest or experience in FP&A, financial modeling, and partnering with department leaders on spending and resource decisions.
  • Experience standing up an accounting function from scratch at an early-stage or hyper-scaling company.

Why Flowcode

You will have meaningful ownership, direct partnership with the CFO, and the opportunity to shape how a growing technology company runs finance. Your work will influence both the reliability of our financial information and how quickly the company can act on it.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $175k-$225k plus equity. Starting pay will reflect the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
