You will be responsible for identifying relevant bidding opportunities, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing and submitting bids, handling RFIs and submittals, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Support pre-construction activities and project handoff
  • Evaluate project opportunities and determine which bids are worth pursuing
  • Maintain organized estimating and bidding records
  • Attend weekly Friday strategic planning meetings with company leadership and department heads
  • Provide updates, insights, and recommendations during planning discussions
  • Work independently and manage estimating priorities without constant oversight
  • Help improve estimating processes, bid quality, and overall project profitability

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of US construction estimating experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Strong understanding of US construction estimating practices
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and bid preparation
  • Proficiency with takeoff and estimating software; PlanHub experience is a strong plus
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Familiarity with general construction and commercial projects
  • Strong written and verbal English communication
  • Strong initiative and self-starter mentality
  • Excellent organization and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently without requiring constant direction or supervision
  • Reliable and committed to meeting deadlines and responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating commercial construction projects, particularly:
  • Retail
  • Medical offices
  • Hospitality
  • Experience with residential construction projects
  • Experience working directly with US-based contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or project owners
  • Experience handling the full estimating cycle from project identification through bid submission
  • Familiarity with PlanHub or similar project bidding platforms
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, labor, subcontractor pricing, and project costs

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Proven ability to independently identify projects worth bidding
  • Strong track record of completing accurate takeoffs and competitive bids with minimal rework
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines without constant follow-up
  • Strong commercial judgment when determining whether a project is a good fit for the company
  • Proactive communication and willingness to contribute during strategic planning meetings
  • Demonstrated ability to improve estimating efficiency and support project profitability
  • History of being dependable, responsive, and consistent in a remote work environment

Non-Negotiables

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Minimum 3 years of US construction estimating experience
  • Fluent English — written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Strong reliability and follow-through
  • Ability to commit to 40 hours/week
  • Availability to work within US Eastern Time
