Since 2003, we’ve built a reputation for precision, speed, and accountability—transforming large tracts of land into fully prepared e‑infrastructure sites through heavy civil expertise, disciplined project management, and a culture of ownership at every level. Our multi‑regional operations are supported by offices in Columbus, Ohio; Manassas, Virginia; Richmond, Virginia; South Hill, Virginia; and Atlanta, Georgia, enabling us to scale rapidly while maintaining exceptional execution standards.

At B&S, we believe in developing talent from within, fostering a culture where driven individuals can build long‑term careers. Whether in the field or the office, our teams are united by a shared commitment to innovation, safety, and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Position Overview

The Estimator will report directly to the Chief Estimator and serve as a key contributor within both the estimating and business development teams. This role supports the preparation of accurate take‑offs and competitive bid proposals for large‑scale projects. Success in this position relies heavily on strong site/earthwork knowledge, a solid work ethic, cultural alignment, a positive attitude, and a collaborative mindset.

This role is ideal for someone seeking growth within a dynamic and expanding organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate intermediate‑level knowledge of commercial site development and earthwork, with the ability to efficiently read and interpret site/civil drawings.
  • Leverage prior field experience with a site development contractor (highly beneficial).
  • Utilize AGTEK or similar earthwork take‑off software to support estimating activities.
  • Assist superintendents and foremen with GPS‑related issues both onsite and remotely.
  • Manage initial project setup, including equipment calibration and model import.
  • Support configuration of new devices and data collectors within WorksManager.
  • Collaborate with field personnel to ensure proper use of GPS systems for layout.
  • Produce accurate cut sheets and as‑built documentation.
  • Perform bid take‑offs using AGTEK and Bluebeam.
  • Solicit and organize quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Engineering, Building Science, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Strong understanding of construction take‑off procedures and estimating principles.
  • Familiarity with quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with AGTEK, Bluebeam, and WorksManager is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
