About the role

About LegalVision

LegalVision is a commercial law firm built for businesses that want to work differently. Through our fixed-fee legal membership, we provide unlimited legal support to SMEs and in-house teams. Our team uses custom-built technology to deliver fast, high-quality legal support with predictable pricing for clients and rewarding careers for those who work here.

With rapidly scaling operations across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, LegalVision offers unique progression pathways, exposure to diverse work at scale, and the opportunity to be part of an innovative law firm recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, a Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a versatile dispute resolution lawyer to join our growing team as a Practice Leader in a newly created position. You will have experience in supporting commercial clients of all sizes with a broad range of disputes (specifically contractual, corporate, employment and leasing disputes), as well as debt recovery matters.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and directing your own varied caseload of litigious and pre-litigation matters from inception right through to trial or resolution.
  • Building direct, trusted-advisor relationships with clients, where your strategic advice genuinely shapes business decisions and commercial outcomes.
  • Running large, complex commercial litigation.
  • Growing the practice area by increasing support to existing clients, and attracting new clients to the firm.
  • Guiding junior lawyers through complex matters, fostering their professional growth and confidence, and reviewing their work.
  • Sharing your expertise through articles, webinars and internal training.

Our NZ team works fully remotely, but we arrange offsites and other events throughout the year to come together. We offer access to coworking spaces (and have a dedicated office in Christchurch for those local to the area). The successful candidate will also be provided with an allowance to set up a comfortable home office.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A 8+ PQE NZ qualified lawyer with demonstrated experience in assisting commercial clients (particularly SMEs) in a range of dispute resolution matters. Experience in employment disputes would be particularly beneficial.
  • Full work rights in NZ.
  • Proven ability to manage litigious and pre-litigation matters with minimal supervision.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to provide strategic, practical advice aligned to clients’ broader business objectives.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted-advisor relationships.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and matter management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working across a diverse range of industries and adapting quickly to new commercial contexts.
  • Contributing to the growth of team and business through the delivery of articles, external webinars, and internal training sessions.

The Perks

  • Fully remote role - work from anywhere in NZ! Or, if you’re in Christchurch, work on a hybrid basis at our NZ HQ.
  • Build strong people management and supervision skills.
  • Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and working within an incredible team, all while building a practice and supercharging your career.
  • Meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
