About the role

A little about us… Kidango (kidango.org) is an early learning nonprofit committed to setting every child on a path to thrive in kindergarten and in life. We believe that all children can reach their full potential if they and their families have access to the right opportunities and resources. As the largest child care provider in the San Francisco Bay Area, we provide thousands of children, especially those from low-income families, with safe, healthy, nurturing environments and relationships. Through our policy work, we aim to take our expertise beyond the children and families that we serve, and drive change in early childhood education at the local, state and federal levels. Our goal is to make sure all children have the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to learn, grow and realize their potential.

About The Role

The Coach (Pyramid Model) provides specialized coaching, training, and technical assistance to teachers, administrators, and support staff in the implementation of the Pyramid Model for Promoting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children. This position is responsible for supporting program-wide fidelity to the Pyramid Model framework, enhancing classroom practices, and building staff capacity to promote children’s social-emotional development, promote self-regulation, and implement evidence-based interventions.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support classroom teams in implementing Pyramid Model practices.
  • Model effective instructional and social-emotional strategies, and provide actionable feedback to improve classroom practices and child outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate professional development sessions for staff aligned to the Pyramid Model, including behavior supports, relationships, and inclusive practices.
  • Design and deliver family workshops and learning opportunities that help parents understand and apply Pyramid Model strategies at home to support children’s social-emotional development.
  • Partner with leadership to develop, implement, and sustain a program-wide Pyramid Model implementation plan.
  • Monitor and support fidelity of implementation using tools, including the TPOT and TPITOS Benchmarks of Quality, ensuring consistent and high-quality practices across sites.
  • Support alignment and integration of Pyramid Model practices with curriculum, assessment systems (e.g., DRDP), and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a positive program climate grounded in equity, inclusion, culturally and linguistically responsive practices, and strong adult-child relationships.
  • Collect, review, and analyze coaching, fidelity, and child outcome data to inform coaching plans, program decisions, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of coaching sessions, action plans, and staff progress.
  • Prepare reports for leadership, stakeholders, and funders, highlighting progress, outcomes, and areas for growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, Center Directors, Regional Directors, and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent implementation and support.
  • Partner with families by providing guidance, resources, and workshops that strengthen their understanding of social-emotional development and behavior support strategies.
  • Support connections between school and home by reinforcing consistent approaches across environments.
  • Participate in professional learning communities, regional cohorts, and state or national Pyramid Model initiatives to stay aligned with best practices and emerging research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
