About the role

Cooling performance limits high-power computing, semi-conductor fab, cell networks, photonics, power electronics, and most of our digital world. Alloy Enterprises enables customers to break through these constraints with novel complex metal components that dramatically improve heat dissipation in high-performance systems. Alloy’s patented Stack Forging™ process enables complex micro-geometries, resulting in single-piece, leak-tight parts that deliver superior cooling performance, lower pressure drops, and exceptional reliability. Founded in 2020, Alloy is a 45-person hardtech startup that has raised over $50M in capital and is shipping components to customers manufacturing servers, lasers, semiconductor equipment, and defense systems.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Parts Production, the CNC Machinist will be responsible for the programming and operation of Alloy’s CNC machines in-house CNC shop. This person will provide feedback to the applications engineering team regarding part feasibility, and machinability while finding creative and scalable solutions to support Alloy’s Stack Forging process. This is a critical role in Alloy’s production operation, influencing the manufacturing process of nearly every part delivered.

This role requires 5 days onsite per week.

  • Program and cut parts, purchase materials and tooling. Alloy currently programs with CAMWorks
  • Identify and implement novel fixturing solutions for parts that will be difficult to indicate repeatably
  • Cooperatively work with the Engineering and Quality Teams to correctly dimension drawings and create datums that will match manufacturing workflows
  • Generate accurate forecasting and scheduling of production work
  • Stay digitally organized, updating work statuses, best practices for file storage and traceability
  • Be an active member of the Safety Committee, owning safety and training within the machine shop.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years of CNC Programming and Machining experience including tooling selection and setup
  • Experience in setup and machining of aluminum castings or other parts where each piece of starting material is slightly different
  • Experience in setup and machining of parts that have been 3D printed
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments to verify product quality
  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving in a machining environment
  • Experience with the development and execution of programming, processing, operational/set-up sheets, and work instructions as related to the manufacturing of orders utilizing our ISO procedures
  • Experience developing manufacturing plans for high-volume production

*Pay Range: $75,000-110,000 dependent on experience, qualifications, and education level
