Gavin de Becker & Associates (GDBA) protects the world’s most influential and at-risk public figures. Founded in 1978 by 3-time Presidential appointee, Gavin de Becker, our firm’s Protectors, Analysts, and Investigators are committed to our mission of protecting human life through the assessment, prediction, and management of violence.
GDBA is looking to add talent to a specialized close protection team in Washington, DC. This team provides a full spectrum of executive protection coverage: domestic and international travel details, secure transportation, and providing close protection at public events. Members of this team must have the fitness to perform when it counts and the composure to adjust when conditions shift. They are comfortable in unfamiliar cities, with unpredictable schedules, and calm in high-stakes moments.
First year earnings for this role start at a minimum of $100,000 based on a 40-hour work week. This position offers earnings potential of up to $120,000+ commensurate with experience, overtime opportunities, and more. This is a full-time hourly position with benefits, not a contract-based role.
To be considered for this position, an applicant must be ready and able to travel up to 130 days per year. Applicants must also live within a daily commutable distance of downtown Washington, DC.

GDBA’s ideal applicant possesses and is comfortable with all the following::
- Extensive real-world experience working in a close protection role with UHNW individuals or other types of recognizable public/government figures during domestic and international travel.
- This role requires a high level of comfort operating as a security driver in various locations and vehicle types, including experience with route planning.
- Experience independently conducting both physical and online advances, resulting in clear, well-written advance reports. Candidates should demonstrate a strong familiarity with navigating FBOs, hotels, and a wide range of public venues.
Hiring Process Requirements
- 12-Day Introductory Training Academy in San Antonio, TX
- Be able to pass physical readiness test (Pull-ups, Push-ups, Sit-ups, 800m run)
- Must be able to swim
- Must be drug and nicotine free
- Background check required
- Must be able to obtain appropriate state firearm and security licensing

- $15,000 employer contribution for First-Year Associates
- $3,000 employer contribution each year thereafter
- 10% no-limit matching for all Associates who choose to contribute to their retirement plan
