About the role

As a Clinical Nurse within the Sterile Processing Centre (SPC) at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, you will provide expert clinical leadership and specialist nursing support to ensure the delivery of high-quality, consumer-focused services within a complex perioperative environment. Working as part of the Surgery and Perioperative Services team, you will apply advanced clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice and professional leadership to support the effective operation of the unit.

You will be responsible for delivering advanced clinical expertise, supporting education and professional development activities, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and providing guidance to nursing and support staff. This role also offers the opportunity to act in a team leader capacity and support the Nurse Unit Manager in maintaining safe, efficient and compliant sterilising services that are critical to patient care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Apply advanced clinical nursing expertise to support the safe and effective delivery of sterilising services, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care and services.
  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to registered nurses and non-registered staff in managing complex situations within the Sterile Processing Centre.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement, research and evidence-based practice initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Support education, training and professional development activities, fostering a positive learning environment for staff and students.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and perioperative stakeholders to ensure compliance with professional standards, policies and sterilising service requirements.

  • Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
  • Flexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increases
  • Benefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packaging
