About the role

What your day could look like

As a Clinical Nurse - Specialist Palliative Care in Aged Care (SPACE), you'll help create better experiences for older people, their families and the teams who care for them. Combining advanced clinical practice with education and leadership, you'll influence care beyond an individual resident, helping build confident, capable teams and lasting improvements across aged care services.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Supporting high-quality palliative and end-of-life care that improves comfort, dignity and quality of life.
  • Partnering with care teams, residents and families to navigate complex situations and achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Coaching and mentoring others to strengthen knowledge, confidence and person-centred care practices.
  • Leading improvements that enhance safety, quality and consistency across aged care settings.

Let's talk about you!

You're the kind of nurse people trust when situations are complex and compassion matters most. You lead with integrity, bring calm to challenging conversations and genuinely care about helping people live well at every stage of life. You'll find purpose in supporting older people, empowering colleagues and creating positive change that reaches far beyond one interaction. In return, you'll have the opportunity to continue growing your expertise, expand your influence and be part of a community that values connection, contribution and care.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Strong clinical experience in palliative care and managing complex patient needs.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence practice and support multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and person-centred care.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience working in aged care and/or postgraduate study in palliative care or a related specialty.

Above all, you'll bring Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage to every interaction, helping shape care experiences that truly matter.
