About the role

About us

Emerald Hospital is the main birthing hub for the Central Highlands, welcoming around 350 new little locals into the world each year! From antenatal care and education to labour, birth and postnatal support, our Maternity Services team is there for mums and babies every step of the way.

We're also home to one of Queensland's longest-running Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) programs, established in 2012 as the first in Central Queensland. Backed by a passionate, collaborative team and strong connections with Child Health, we're all about providing supportive, connected care for women and families.

About the role

As a Clinical Midwife, you'll play a key role in coordinating and guiding clinical practice across the maternity service.

You'll bring your midwifery expertise to the floor, supporting nursing and medical staff, providing clinical leadership and ensuring care is safe, evidence-based and of the highest standard. Working closely with the unit's line manager, you'll help support the team and keep best-practice maternity care at the centre of everything we do.

About you

  • Qualified and ready to go: You're an AHPRA-registered Midwife with a current practising certificate. Postgraduate qualifications in your specialty are a bonus!
  • A confident clinician: You know your midwifery, think on your feet and bring strong clinical judgement, problem-solving skills and a good understanding of best-practice care.
  • A natural leader and mentor: You enjoy sharing your knowledge, supporting your colleagues and helping others build their skills and confidence through education and evidence-based practice.
  • Always looking for better: You're passionate about safe, quality care, spotting opportunities to improve and making things happen. You bring great communication skills and know how to build positive relationships with everyone you work with.

What we offer

Total remuneration value of up to $165,568 p.a. (including 35% caseload loading) is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $77.98 - $83.50 (including 35% caseload loading)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
