About the role

Title: Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology

Division: Provost's Office

Department: College of Liberal Arts

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: Annual Salary

EEO Job Group: 2 C4

Position Summary

The Psychology Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 10-month clinical track position at the Associate Professor level in Psychology with specialty in counseling or clinical practice. The appointment will begin in August 2027.

This is a clinical-track faculty position with primary responsibilities in teaching, student advising, and clinical practice. Unlike traditional tenure-track roles, this position emphasizes applied clinical training and service rather than research. Faculty in this role will have the opportunity to maintain active clinical practice as part of their workload.

The appointment is promotion-eligible, with advancement opportunities from Associate Professor to Full Professor, and is offered on a 10-month contract with a competitive salary and benefits package.

The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in the development of a new master's program in Counseling/Clinical Psychology. As such, faculty may receive course releases to support program development activities, potentially resulting in a reduced teaching load (e.g., 2/2 or 2/3) compared to the standard 4/4 load. In addition, this position offers a clear pathway to leadership, with eligibility for appointment as Program Director once the program is fully established.

Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester (2-3 course preparations), advising psychology majors, involvement in clinical or counseling practice or activities, and engaging in service activities and, in concert with the chair and the dean, exploring new programmatic and curricular opportunities. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate course offerings in clinical or counseling psychology, psychopathology, and special topic classes in applicants’ area of expertise.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and the requisite licensure for clinical practice.
