About the role

The BarkleyOKRP Finance Team is looking for a Client Accountant who is excited to bring strong financial expertise into a creative, fast-paced agency environment. If you’re detail-oriented, love working with numbers, and enjoy partnering with cross-functional teams, this role offers the chance to make a real impact on client success and agency performance.

As a Client Accountant, you’ll serve as the key financial steward for assigned client accounts, ensuring billing accuracy, revenue integrity, and thoughtful financial insights. You’ll collaborate closely with Client Experience, Media, and Production teams to translate contracts into clean job setups, accurate billing, and reliable forecasting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, values strong relationships, and enjoys balancing structure with variety.

What You’ll Do

  • Own monthly client billing across agency fees, production costs, and media (where applicable), as well as revenue recognition, reconciliations, including accruals and deferrals for assigned clients
  • Maintain and manage revenue forecasts, pipelines, and budgets, and lead monthly forecast reviews with agency leadership
  • Serve as a trusted partner to client teams with a strong understanding of client P&Ls and overall financial health
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business, industry, and engagement model
  • Review contracts and billing terms for accuracy, compliance, and optimization, making recommendations when needed
  • Monitor receivables and collaborate with Client Experience and clients to resolve outstanding balances
  • Provide timely, insightful financial support to Client Experience teams, including detailed job-level insights
  • Prepare reporting to help leadership understand project performance and historical trends
  • Assist with annual audits, ensuring documentation is accurate, organized, and audit-ready
  • Leverage financial systems and other tools to identify efficiencies, build reports, and support Brand Leaders
  • Ensure contracts and SOWs are accurately reflected in job setup, service periods, and fee allocations
  • Maintain organized, compliant client folders and financial documentation

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • Strong experience with financial/accounting systems and Excel-based reporting
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Clear, confident communication skills and comfort partnering with non-finance stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of job-based accounting, client billing, and ASC 606

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–4 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within an advertising, marketing, or professional services agency
