Why This Role Matters

As a Broker Payable Commission Analyst, you'll help ensure outside brokers receive accurate, timely commission payments that reflect their agreements. Your work will support dependable broker relationships, accurate financial reporting, and consistent payment practices.

You'll manage monthly commission calculations and reconciliations, maintain agreement and payment data, and serve as the primary contact for broker commission questions and disputes. Working with regional and agency teams, Finance, and Accounting, you'll independently research discrepancies, determine appropriate resolutions, and help improve the systems that support commission processing.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Calculate, process, and reconcile monthly broker commission payments in accordance with executed agreements and payment terms.
  • Maintain accurate broker agreements, commission documentation, payment instructions, and commission settings within Agency Management Systems.
  • Audit production and commission reports, investigate variances, and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for broker commission inquiries and disputes, independently researching issues, determining appropriate resolutions, and communicating and implementing outcomes.
  • Prepare payment files, commission statements, reconciliations, and commission expense reports.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for accruals and journal entries to support accurate financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Ensure validated payments are entered into the appropriate systems by established payment deadlines.
  • Track new agreements, amendments, terminations, and rate changes so payments reflect current terms.
  • Collaborate with brokers, regional and agency teams, Finance, and Accounting to resolve questions and coordinate commission activities.
  • Lead system enhancements that improve commission processing and provide ad hoc commission and financial analysis.
  • Protect confidential broker, banking, client, and company information.

Who You Are

  • Analytical and thorough, with a practical approach to investigating discrepancies and finding accurate solutions.
  • Organized and dependable when balancing monthly deadlines, multiple agreements, and high volumes of data.
  • Comfortable working independently and exercising sound judgment when agreement terms require interpretation.
  • A clear communicator who handles broker questions and disputes professionally.
  • Collaborative and willing to work across teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining accurate records and complete documentation.
  • Discreet and trustworthy when handling sensitive financial and business information.
  • Guided by Patriot's core values of Positivity, Empowerment, Collaboration, Transparency, and Appreciation.

What You Bring

Day One

  • 3–5 years of experience in commission administration, accounting, broker compensation, or a related role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of broker commission structures, payment terms, audits, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Ability to interpret agreements, exercise sound judgment when terms are ambiguous, and accurately apply commission rates, effective dates, and payment schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing monthly deadlines, multiple agreements, and high-volume data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with brokers, regional and agency teams, Finance, and Accounting.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Agency Management Systems, such as Business Central, Epic, and BenefitPoint, along with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential broker, banking, client, and company information appropriately.
  • Commitment to Patriot's core values.

Valuable Additions

  • Experience in commission administration, accounting, or broker compensation within the insurance industry.
