Opening Paragraph:

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist for a locum position at King George Hospital in Romford, based on the acute medical wards. This is a full-time role that offers the opportunity to work within a busy and dynamic environment, managing a variety of complex medical conditions. The role is available to start immediately, with an hourly pay rate of £28. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an NHS acute setting and be comfortable managing a diverse caseload of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities:

As a Band 6 Acute Medical Wards Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for assessing, treating, and managing patients with a range of acute medical conditions, including those with respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal issues. You will be working on the acute medical wards, providing physiotherapy interventions to optimize patient mobility, prevent deconditioning, and assist in discharge planning. You will conduct initial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide hands-on therapy, including mobilization, breathing exercises, and postural support. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team is essential to ensure holistic patient care and positive outcomes. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, prioritizing patients based on clinical need, and contributing to ward rounds and patient progress reviews. The role requires the ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain excellent communication with patients and colleagues alike.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist
  • Significant experience working in NHS acute medical settings, particularly on medical wards
  • Experience in managing a varied caseload of patients with complex medical conditions
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal conditions in the acute setting
  • Ability to assess, plan, and deliver appropriate physiotherapy interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the ward and patients
