About the role

Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Oklahoma City University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in Fall 2027. While the area of specialty is open, candidates with expertise in adult mental health—particularly gerontology, substance use disorders, or rural mental health—are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants whose teaching, research, or clinical interests complement and enhance the existing areas of expertise within the department and contribute to the breadth and strength of the program.

Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in our PsyD program in Clinical Psychology, which achieved APA accreditation with contingency status, supervising graduate student research capstone projects, and providing clinical supervision. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the undergraduate psychology program. As a member of the faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarship and contribute to departmental, college, university, and professional service.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program and demonstrate a strong commitment to the evidence-based practice of psychology. Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching with experience supporting graduate student development through research, clinical training, and/or professional supervision. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma, subject to applicable state requirements. Experience teaching, supervising, or serving in a faculty role within an APA-accredited clinical psychology program is preferred.
