About the role

About the role

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) works under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM), in alignment with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's decision-making framework. AINs provide essential support to RNs, RMs, and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) in delivering safe, person-centred care to patients and their families.

While patient care and service activities are delegated by the RN or RM, AINs remain accountable for their own actions and are expected to operate within their approved scope of practice. This role requires a commitment to teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to clinical standards to ensure high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings.
