About the role

About the Role

Atari publishes and markets classic and modern titles across premier web and streaming platforms. We are seeking an experienced Platform Games Asset Designer to lead the adaptation, optimization, and production of key art, UI, marketing visuals, and game-ready assets across our global platform catalog. Working closely with Production, Publishing, and external partners, you will deliver high-volume, spec-compliant asset packages tailored to diverse display environments and strict technical standards.

Engagement Details

  • Engagement Type: Contract / Project-Based
  • Initial Term: 3 Months (scalable based on launch milestones)
  • Workplace Mode: Remote (requires core overlap with Europe/India time zones)
  • Commitment: Flexible allocation aligned with production and publishing schedules
  • Compensation: Monthly retainer
  • Experience Level: 3+ years in 2D/3D game asset design, platform asset adaptation, or web/HTML5 game production

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce complete, spec-compliant platform asset bundles including capsule art, hero banners, app icons, splash screens, store marketing graphics, and social media crops.
  • Adapt and optimize key art for specific platform technical parameters (MSN, Reddit, YouTube Playables, Netflix Games), ensuring seamless scaling across aspect ratios and display density constraints.
  • Deliver production-ready layered source files (PSD/AI) with clean alpha channels, structured background/foreground separation, and parallax-ready assets for UI/startup screens.
  • Generate, format, and optimize 2D/3D game art assets, vector graphics, and 3D models in Blender for light WebGL and HTML5 engine integration.
  • Design, extend, and clean up in-game 2D UI components, HUD elements, and promotional graphics.
  • Enforce version control, file naming conventions, and directory structures to ensure direct build integration by engineering and publishing teams without rework.
  • Audit deliverables against technical specs, safe zones, and platform compliance guidelines prior to executive handoff.
  • Incorporate licensor feedback, legal notices, and brand guidelines with precision, ensuring brand consistency across licensed IP.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated portfolio showcasing high-quality key art, store capsule design, and asset optimization for commercial game releases.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in building, adapting, or delivering platform games and interactive assets on premier distribution platforms such as MSN, Reddit, YouTube Playables, Netflix Games, etc.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) including non-destructive editing, batch automation, compositing, and vector creation.
  • Proficiency in Blender for 3D asset modeling, rendering, and web-ready optimization.
  • Familiarity with HTML5, WebGL, and Unity asset pipelines and optimization constraints.
  • Deep understanding of platform-specific asset guidelines, safe zones, UI/UX constraints, and aspect ratios across web and streaming platforms.
  • Strict adherence to corporate visual identity standards, logo lockups, typography, and visual brand guidelines.
  • Strong graphic design foundation with expertise in composition, typography, and color theory under dynamic re-formatting.
  • Strong operational discipline, asynchronous communication skills, and experience in milestone-driven workflows.

Nice to Have

  • Motion graphics and video editing skills for animated store capsules, end cards, and promotional trailers.
  • Experience managing IP approval workflows with external brand licensors.
  • Experience with Spine 2D or frame-by-frame sprite animation.
  • Controlled use of AI-assisted design tooling (generative fill, upscaling) maintaining complete copyright compliance.

Terms

All deliverables are governed by standard work-for-hire provisions with complete IP rights assigned to Atari. Execution of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is required prior to project onboarding.
