About the role

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Animal Nursing Assistant to join our team at Plymouth Vets on a full-time permanent basis.

Our branch surgeries are just 5 miles away from the main hospital so support, advice and guidance from the wider team is always on hand. Our hospital provides 24/7 care 365 days a year as well as providing an out-of-hours service for other feeder practices within Plymouth. It is well equipped with Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, and other diagnostic equipment enabling most first opinion cases to be treated in-house as well as accepting referrals for exotics. The Branches provide spacious consulting rooms and well-equipped theatres allowing for routine treatment to take place close to home, saving on travel across the City.

Plymouth is Britain’s Ocean City and presents excellent opportunities for land and water-based activities as well as a vibrant cultural scene, with good access to the Southwest or Europe. There are not many better cities in which to live and work so if you are looking to relocate, we can offer you full support with this too.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Animal Nursing Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely.

Working Pattern

The ANA is the first port of call covering all reception duties for the surgery both in person and over the phone; greeting clients, booking appointments, handling medications, promoting the Pet Health Club and forward booking appointment process as well as offering advice with any other seasonal campaigns/promotions that may running.

In addition, assist the Vet and or Nurse with animal handling, infection control and stock management for the branch surgery. You will also be a key holder for the branch and cover all H&S monitoring routines on a weekly/monthly schedule.
