Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join an Adult Acute team in South Wales on a locum basis. This role is suitable for an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist looking to broaden their acute experience or a Band 7 clinician seeking a flexible locum opportunity within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders within acute inpatient services.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients with dysphagia, acquired communication disorders, cognitive-communication difficulties, and neurological conditions.
  • Undertake comprehensive swallowing assessments and provide appropriate management plans to support safe nutrition and hydration.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including medical staff, nursing teams, dietitians, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.
  • Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

  • Contribute to service development initiatives and support junior colleagues where appropriate.

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
