The successful candidate will have experience in managing complex communication and swallowing difficulties, with specialist skills in voice therapy, dysphagia management, Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and videofluoroscopy.

This part-time position offers 22.5 hours per week across three flexible days, Monday to Friday, with an immediate start available. The initial placement is for three months, with the possibility of extension.

This role is ideal for a skilled and proactive therapist looking to apply their clinical expertise in a busy acute hospital environment while contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose and manage adult patients presenting with complex speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute hospital setting.
  • Deliver specialist dysphagia assessment and management, including FEES and videofluoroscopy, where required and within your competencies.
  • Provide specialist voice therapy assessment and intervention tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans to support patients’ recovery, safety and quality of life.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient management and continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional standards and hospital procedures.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and contribute to care planning and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Support the delivery of a high standard of patient-centred care within the acute service.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Relevant experience working as an Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist, ideally at Band 7 level.
  • Clinical expertise in dysphagia and voice therapy.
  • Experience and competence in FEES and videofluoroscopy.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive, flexible and patient-focused approach to clinical practice.
