About the role

The Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at The Citadel seeks applicants for adjunct faculty positions in Spanish. The Citadel’s goal is to build long-term relationships with high-quality part-time faculty members who are committed to developing principled, well-rounded leaders who appreciate the value of being culturally and linguistically proficient in world languages other than their own. Adjunct professors will teach basic and intermediate language courses.

This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather for a pool of candidates who may be considered.

  • Be able to teach in-person classes, on campus in Charleston, SC.
  • Evidence of previous effective teaching experience is required.
  • Complete Citadel instructor training and follow rules and regulations set by The Citadel Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching, Learning, and Distance Education (CEITL&DE).
  • Interview in the target language prior to employment.

Preference is given to applicants who meet Scholarly Academic, Practice Academic, Scholarly Practitioner, or Instructional Practitioner and are native-like proficient in the language they desire to teach. Official transcripts indicating education level, interview in the target language, and a background check are required prior to employment.

Interested applicants should start by sending a brief letter of application and a CV to:
