About the role

About us

At Datacom, we combine technology, expertise, and talented people to help organisations thrive in a rapidly changing world. As one of Australasia's leading technology providers, we work with customers across industries to solve real-world problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Whether we're supporting governments, enterprise organisations, or growing businesses, we're committed to creating meaningful outcomes for our customers, communities, and each other.

About the Role

Our Product Solutions Group is well known in the Australian market for delivering incredible results for our customers, whilst providing a close knit, supportive environment for our Sales teams led by some of the best mentors and sales minds in the industry!

The Account Manager role is responsible for maximising revenue from our major/key customer accounts to achieve agreed revenue targets. You'll be planning and overseeing enterprise-level support and service activities for our company products and services for a designated client or group of clients, ensuring complete customer satisfaction and strategic business growth.

Our office is based in Adelaide. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What you'll do

At the moment, as Account Manager you will be focused on:

  • Formulating, implementing and managing strategic business plans for major/key client accounts to achieve sales revenue targets
  • Managing revenue, growth, productivity and profit for your entire portfolio
  • Leading program processes and coordinating cross-business resources to ensure achievement of goals, schedules and quality commitments
  • Managing negotiations between the organisation, clients and third-parties involved
  • Collaborating with sales and support groups to identify opportunities for expanded business
  • Conducting product demonstrations and coordinating preparation of sales proposals, tenders and contracts
  • Acting as the organisation's single point of contact to clients during implementation
  • Working closely with clients to determine present and future needs and proposing suitable products, services and upgrades
  • Advising customers on information and business technology strategy
  • Supporting the wider sales team where required

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders' changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you'll bring

Required experience

  • 4+ years of related account management or similar experience
  • Experience with managing customer contracts and requests
  • Proven sales ability including outstanding negotiation skills and persuasive ability
  • Expert IT product and industry knowledge coupled with the ability to deal with clients at all levels
  • Specialist knowledge of relevant IT industry and vendor products
  • Strong Project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have

  • Specialist knowledge of IT products and services
  • Ability to motivate and manage direct and indirect teams across multiple functions
  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, Science, Engineering, Economics or related discipline

Join a team where you'll be supported to grow your career, prioritise your wellbeing, and make a genuine impact. From industry-leading learning and development opportunities to parental leave, wellbeing support, and employee benefits, we're committed to helping our people thrive both professionally and personally.
