In this role, you will:

  • Deliver culturally appropriate primary healthcare services, including health assessments, clinical observations, immunisations and other interventions within your scope of practice.
  • Facilitate individual and group health education and promotion activities covering areas such as men's and women's health, child and youth health, sexual health and social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, healthcare professionals, government departments and community-controlled health and social service organisations.
  • Advocate for individuals and families, helping them navigate healthcare services and access appropriate referrals, resources and support.
  • Identify community health priorities, contribute to targeted health programs, maintain accurate clinical records and support continuous improvement in service delivery.

About you

You are a culturally knowledgeable and community-minded health professional who is passionate about improving primary healthcare outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • You have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and the social determinants of health, and can apply this knowledge to deliver culturally appropriate healthcare.
  • You have clinical skills and knowledge relevant to primary healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including health assessment, health promotion and the management of common health concerns.
  • You communicate effectively and sensitively with clients, families, colleagues and external stakeholders, building trusting relationships and supporting collaborative care.
  • You can work with a high degree of autonomy, exercise sound judgement and initiative, and recognise, manage and escalate clinical and operational risks appropriately.
  • You work respectfully within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate honesty and integrity, and remain committed to culturally safe, high-quality healthcare and continuous improvement.
