About the Role

At CDC, our Service Technicians work in live data centre environments, supporting the operation of mission‑critical infrastructure.

If you’ve spent time in electrical, HVAC, or industrial environments, a lot of this will feel familiar. Working to procedures, taking safety seriously, and understanding the impact of your work is critical. A data centre applies those same principles to power, cooling, fire systems and monitoring, all operating continuously. The difference is the environment, the scale, and the opportunity to apply your skills in a stable, growing industry.

We welcome people from a range of technical backgrounds and provide training and support to help you apply your existing skills in a more operational, monitoring‑focused environment.

What you’ll be doing day‑to‑day

  • Monitoring and responding to alarms and alerts across power, cooling, and fire systems
  • Performing physical inspections to ensure equipment and infrastructure are operating within defined parameters
  • Responding to faults and incidents, prioritising actions, and determining when escalation or contractor support is required
  • Carrying out operational switching and control activities to prevent unplanned outages
  • Supporting planned maintenance and monitoring contractors on site, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures and approved methods of operation
  • Documenting incidents, maintenance activities, and observations to support continuous improvement

This role works on a rotating 24/7 shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) and suits individuals who are comfortable making decisions, following defined processes, and working calmly in high‑reliability environments.

Benefits, Training and Offerings

Our training program provides tailored content through our CDC Academy, specifically designed for individuals starting out in this role. You'll learn hands-on by shadowing and working alongside our experienced Service Technicians, gaining essential knowledge to develop your skillset.

About You

You have experience working in environments where reliability, safety, and procedure matter—whether that’s through an electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or broader critical infrastructure background.

You might be a qualified commercial or industrial electrician or HVAC technician looking to move away from a traditional tools-based role and into operations, or someone with technical exposure who is curious about how large-scale, mission-critical environments operate.

Regardless of background, we value motivation, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and develop within a growing industry.

Desirable experience:

  • A trade or technical background in Electrical, Refrigeration/HVAC, Mechanical, or a related field (highly desirable)
  • Experience working in critical or high‑availability environments with strong safety and compliance requirements
  • Exposure to monitoring or control systems such as BMS, EMS, or SCADA‑type platforms
  • Familiarity with complex infrastructure or plant equipment (e.g. HVAC systems, power systems, generators, fire systems)
  • Strong fault‑finding, problem‑solving, and situational awareness skills
  • The ability to produce clear documentation, logs, and post‑incident reports

Essential

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
